This is Neelakantan. Neela is 80+. He lives alone in Singapore.
Neela is my unsung hero.
Around 20 years back Neela’s left leg was crushed. The doctors who reviewed his case, shook their heads and advised amputation. They muttered about gangrene and the possibility of infection setting in, of slow death.
Neela stood his ground and refused to lose his leg. He adamantly refused to even consider the thought. Neela has gone through innumerable operations over the past 20 years. He has chosen to live with the pain rather than without his leg.
Here he is in NUH, where he has been for the past month. Cheerfully accepting the 5 procedures so far, to remove the dead flesh from his bone.
A small lonely man with the heart of a lion!
