Of all the Disney princesses, I love the Little Mermaid the most!
As, most little girls do, I guess. So when little Pavaani’s mom asked if I would make her a cake with a mermaid on top, I was super excited.
Modeling the mermaid was fun but stressful. Fondant with just tylose, does not work well in hot and humid Singapore. A day after creating a mermaid with a waist to ooh and aah over, I had a mermaid who looked like the Emaciated Buddha….
After agonizing for a day or two, I finally discarded the first torso and modeled another one.
Blue and aqua buttercream covered the two tiers. Each had three layers of vanilla cake sandwiched with strawberry and white chocolate frosting
I loved making all the sea creatures and coral, sea anemones and bubbles!
But the icing on the cake? The expression of the Birthday girl! That made my day!
You got some serious talent!!! Little mermaid is my favorite too!!!! Awesome cake!
Thank you sweetie 🙂
I love the expression on the birthday girl’s face too!! That makes all the stress worth it and more!! It’s a beautiful cake and I love the mermaid- it’s so well done.
Thank you Andrea! I love doing kid’s birthday cakes. They are the most rewarding 🙂
