Heir-raising Tales

My daughter turns 20 today and wicked mom that I am, I have this story to share.

At four, D was a curious child that was forever getting into things. And her fascination was for stuff that older people used.

One day she had a red and angry scratch on her upper lip. “What happened D?” I asked, to be blithely told, “Oh, I shaved my mustache like I’ve seen dad and thatha do”.

I knew forbidding her from touching the razor would only make it even more attractive. So I plotted evilly.

When she went off for the afternoon nap, I took my eye liner pencil and drew on the most magnificent mustache on her upper lip. A mustache that would make Veerappan proud.

D woke up and came to me for a snuggle. She was always mama’s little girl. I picked her up and took her to the mirror.

;

There was a moment of silence- the calm before the storm- then all hell broke loose. She wailed and wailed in absolute horror.

When the tears abated a little I told her that I would try and do magic to get rid of the mustache, but that she should not touch the razor again. She nodded, wracked by sobs.

I then proceeded to do my magic with cleansing cream and cotton wool.

The world was set right and happiness was restored. And my baby never again touched a razor…..

Wish one could wave a magic wand now and make them do one’s bidding ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Birthday my sweetie!

    Yes, time flies. She was a beautiful baby girl and now she has grown to a beautiful, lovely young lady. Did you make her 20th birthday cake? ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thank you darling Fae! No she is in the US, so could not make a birthday cake, but I sent a loaf cake and cupcakes when my husband visited her 2 weeks back. R

  11. Happy New Year R!
    What a great story. My mother and you are cut from the same cloth. While my father slept, she painted his toenails sickly pink, because he kept forgetting to cut them. Probably not a good experience for the people being pranked, but the rest of us got a good laugh.

  12. Awww, you are a mum after my own heart, R! LOL!
