A princess making a last bid for freedom before dull matrimony and the burden of the kingdom buries her in boredom. A dashing and gallant journalist (are there any of those anymore?) shows her around breathtaking Rome.

Roman Holiday, 2013! A middle aged Shesh and Radhika! (I’ll spare you the photograph).

Retracing the steps of Audrey and Gregory, eating way too many gelatos for their own good. Exploring still breathtaking Rome.

From the Colosseum to Trastevere, the Jewish Quarter to Isola Tiberina. From Piazza Navona with its Fountain dedicated to the four mighty rivers of the world, to the wildly popular Fontana di Trevi.

And also the vibrant and colourful Campo de’ Fiori.

Campo de fiori.

In the words of Princess Ann, “I will cherish my visit here in memory, as long as I live.”

  1. What a wonderful adventure! Lovely!

  2. Love the analogy, love the photographs, love the yummy-looking grapes, love the red bike (so cute!) & love the bouquet of peppers. What a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing.

  3. When we travel, we make a point to go and see the markets. Hustle and bustle of local lives and how they shop. These photos are exactly that! Did you go to Rome after your Greek trip? Lovely photos and funny narrative. 😀 )))

    • We started out in Rome first. And while I loved the entire city to pieces, I didn’t want to bore seasoned travellers with more pictures of the fountains and the Colosseum. I love the little market places!

  4. Lovely… You made me relive the 4 days I spent in Rome a couple of years ago. Like you, I haunted the markets… 🙂

  5. What a wonderful place to spend an afternoon, or an entire vacation, if I had my druthers. These memories will forever live in your hearts.

  6. Such a gorgeous market! I could happily get lost in a place like that and just browse all day long.
