Teletubbies cake

I loved making this sweet custom designed Teletubbies cake for baby S’s first birthday.

When R first contacted me, I had just about heard of Teletubbies– never made a cake in that theme.

R was a dream customer! She chose her cake flavour, told me how many guests she’d have attending the party, and left the design elements to me. We decided on a two tier Signature chocolate cake with decadent dark chocolate ganache.

The cake had an adorable sun smiling from the top. And cute colourful Teletubbies.

I made the sun with cake crumbs kneaded with ganache (like a giant cake pop), and covered it with sunny yellow fondant. Melting blue eyes, a wide smile and petal-like “rays” finished the effect.

The two tiers of cake were covered with leaf green fondant and decorated with grass, tiny flowers and little toadstools. And the four Teletubbies stood or sat on the tiers.
